Happy Summer! Thank-you, reading challenge, and pictures!

Well, folks, it's been a week since the school year ended, and this is the final installment of "The Hive." Next school year, we will be joined by some additional first graders and our little Hive will grow! And, as many of you know, I will be following this class into next school year! I am so excited! We will have a brand new theme in our class, which will be revealed at the start of next school year-I know the busy-bees are ready to take on new adventures (that's a little hint right there).

First of all, a huge THANK YOU for all the words of appreciation, hugs, donated books, cards, gift cards, flowers, teacher goodies, salmon, and even chocolates! What a treat! It was an amazing school year and I am SO thankful to have taught your kiddos!!!

I have published the parent contact list via email. If you wanted to be on the list, please let me know. The list is sent out only to those who requested to be on it. If any info. is incorrect or needs updating, let me know so I can do so. The list is a way for you to schedule play dates, parties, and the like. It was a great idea, Christy Simpson!

Also, I have sent out an email that Mrs. Lee sent to her class. I loved it so much that I just had to share. It's the 1,000-reading-minute-challenge! Please check it out!

Thank you for all the support you have given this school year and for checking into The Hive every week! It means so much!

And now, onto the pictures from the end of the school year!
Enjoy.

Book fair, LOTS of little details and dates, and zoo pics too!

It's June?! Whoa! How did that happen? There's just so much to share, thank you for stopping by!

Important Dates Coming Up:

The Book Fair is on: June 6th-June 10th, 8:30 am-3:30 pm! Groove on by for some wonderful deals on some fabulous books! Here's Mrs. Johnson grooving down the hall!

Monday, June 6th: We will have a Chapel presentation of our graduation program. Please have children bring white t-shirts that they can wear over their clothes. They can just store them in their desks for the big show Friday.

Tuesday, June 7th: Father's Day Field Day from 10:30-12:30. Father, Grandfather, Uncle, or a Special Dude will join us for field day fun in Klineline Park! (Any mom/grandma volunteers to run games would be lovely!) PLEASE TURN IN PERMISSION SLIPS for this fun day!

Thursday, June 8th: Summer Birthday Celebration: For Kiddos with summer birthdays (June-August). If you have a child with a summer birthday, please text or email with what you can bring. What I was hoping to have: juice, a sweet treat (cookies or cupcakes, etc.), and a healthy treat (fruits or veggies, cheese sticks, etc). The celebration will be at 2:00. We already have a confirmation of cookies coming in this day. We need a few more. Thank you!

Friday, June 10th: Last Day (and also a half-day), Kindergarten Graduation at 10:00 am, School Program. We will be reciting Psalm 23 of the New King James version. Please be working on this at home. We will memorize a little bit at a time. Your child will need a white t-shirt for this day. (: The white t-shirts will be important to our big show!

Parent Contact List: Please contact me via email of you would like to be part of a parent contact list. Those who contact me with the information they would like to share (phone numbers and/or emails), will have that information shared in a group email. This will be helpful to anyone who is planning to arrange play-dates or summer birthday parties. I will need these by the last day of school and I will publish the email for all those interested shortly after.

Coming Up in Reading:

We will continue to work with shapes, two-dimensional and three-dimensional in math. Keep looking for shapes in everyday life with your kiddos, and determine if they are 2-D or 3-D.

So, what exactly makes these bees so busy? Well, they have been...
